Ms Khalily is a 1992 graduate from the Act Academy of Cincinnati with a major in printmaking and a minor in drawing and illustration. She has exhibited primarily in the Cincinnati area. Since moving to Louisville she has participated in the Ursuline Art Fair and was awarded First Place in the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair in 1998.
Khalily will be exhibiting her new woodcuts which incorporate the chine collé technique of utilizing colored papers in the manner of collage in conjunction with the woodcut. The pressure of printing then laminates the papers together.
Included in her exhibition will be her angel images inspired by Rilke’s Duino Elegies dealing with such elemental questions as: Who are we? Where are we? What are our connections with the unknown spaces around us, with the other living beings, and with things? What is our task here? These prints are a visual experience into the spirit and energy of this artist’s mind.
